The trio explained why they have become involved with Notts County. Frank Strang told the clubs official website: “Our aim is to put Notts County on a sound footing and allow it to grow from there.

“The more we have become involved with the club, the more the siren of football has pulled us in. We won’t claim to have been lifelong Notts County fans, but we are certainly fans now.”

Bhatia added: “We saw this as an opportunity to save the oldest football league club in the world, and on that basis I can’t understand why there weren’t more people bidding to take control.

“With a gentle tweak in a few areas, there is no reason why things here can’t be turned around without putting in millions of pounds.”

The controversial character of Geoffrey Richmond who will become Chief Executive at Notts, also spoke out: “The budget is in place and is very conservative. All calculations have been based on actual figures from last season, so there has been no planning of massive increases in attendances for example, so the budget is without doubt realistic, and the future looks promising.”
