Title Fight: Fergy v Incey

Last updated : 14 December 2007 By Gary Moss
Another week has passed in League Two and as predicted by NCM there has been another managerial casualty.

Brentford boss Terry Butcher was sacked from his post at Griffin Park following a run of six league games without a point and more prominantly a 1-0 defeat at home to fellow struggling Grimsby Town.

The former England skipper is the fourth manager to face the chop so fra this season and expect more to follow.

The division has shown before that it doesn't give second chances even to the most inexperienced of managers.
Mcllroy: New contract reward

The Bees have been in free fall for a number of seasons now and it is no real surprise to see Butcher punished after a 22 per cent win record since taking charge.

After relegation from League One last season, Bees fan would expect an immediate return but things have not gone so smoothly.

On the other side of things, Morecambe chief Sammy McIllroy has been rewarded with a new copntract after the leading the Shrimps to ninth in the league ladder.

The League Two newcomers sit just four points adrift oif a play-off place and have been one of a few surprise packages in the league so far this term.

So, this weekend marks a chance for two boards to be proved right or wrong on the decisions they've made this week.

Game of the day: Peterborough v MK Dons

Battle...Dons' O'Hanlon and Poshs' McLean
There could really be no other candidate for game of the day this weekend with table toppers MK Dons taking on their closest rivals, Peterborough United, at London Road.

Posh have suffered just one home defeat all season while the Dons have too lost on the road just once.

Paul Ince's men are the best raiders in the division so far this term having taking 20 points from nine outings.

Likewise, Darren Ferguson's United have enjoyed their best form in front of their home crowd - with no side scoring more goals than Posh at home so far this campaign.

Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith have been hitting the headlines recently after a shaky start from the second placed side.

McLean sits head of the divisions scoring charts and his pace can terrify the best.

For the Dons, Alan Navarro will be hoping to prove his point after signing a one year contarc t extension on Tuesday.

The defender netted in his sides 5-0 drubbing of Accrington last week and will retain his place in the side knowing his future at the club is a little more
Dyer...Dons' pace ace
certain.

Just four points seperate the teams ahead of their clash.

United have been in inspired form of late and a win here with heap mopre pressure on the so far runaway league leaders.

Captain Keith Andrews have been a main man for the Dons this season scoring from midfield and rallying his troops to late wins.

But it is the pace of Lloyd Dyer in particular that will strike fear into Posh.

Dyer can play on either wing and has made it his habit of terrorising full-backs lacking an edge of speed.

NCM Prediction: A Posh win but but Dons retain top spot.

Elsewhere... Morecambe will be hoping to inflict more pressure on out of form Wycombe Wanderers.

Turner... Ambitous
The Chairboys were hammered 6-0 at Stockport last weekend and face the League Two newcomers searching for a first league win in four.

The Shrimps are unbeaten in four and level on points with Lambert's Wanderers.

At the bottom, a local derby between Grimsby and Mannsfield looks set to draw in a crowd at Blundell Park.

The Mariners beat Brentford last week and will be hoping to repeat that over a Stags outfit who saw their game abandoned.

And finally, fourth placed Hereford face a difficult trip to Gigg Lane to face Bury.

Ambitious Graham Turner admits he is targeting the play-off with the Bulls but the gritty Shakers will be up for it looking to out right two straight leage losses.
