Thordarson targets Thompson

Thompson (pictured below right) is currently a free agent after turning down the offer of a new deal at York Street and has recently been training with Conference new-boys Cambridge Utd.

The 23-year-old spent three years at Boston after signing on a free transfer from Sheffield United, following an initial succesful loan period. The midfielder made an impressive total of 108 appearences for the Pilgrims, though 60 of those came from the bench. He also managed to net 17 goals for the Lincolnshire outfit.

However, the former England schoolboy - who netted in Boston's 4-0 thrashing of the Magpies last season - was keen for a fresh challenge away from York Street.

And the nippy Sheffield-born player has interested not only Thordarson, but also a number of other League Two clubs, including Grimsby Town.

Icelandic Thordarson is keen to bolster his midfield options further ahead of the new season despite the capture of former Sheffield Wednesday man Lewis McMahon, with both Paul Bolland and Stefan Oakes leaving Meadow Lane over the summer.
