Thordarson completes Meadow Lane exodus

After perhaps the most eventful day of news since the club emerged from administration three years ago, BBC Radio Nottingham tonight reported that manager Gudjon Thordarson had tonight become the latest casualty of the day's extraordinary shake-up, following his right-hand man Ross MacLaren to the Meadow Lane exit.

The Iceman Goneth
After little over a year in charge it seemed Gudjon Thordarson was going to put the brakes on the none-too magic roundabout of managers heading in and out of those ever-revolving Meadow Lane doors as, until this evening, it was thought that Thordarson was settled in the area, with the Icelandic Notts boss only recently known to have been at prospective properties in the city.

Notts' sixth manager in five years, Thordarson agreed a three-year deal that would seemingly provide the club with some much needed stability to help propel the Magpies back to their former glory.

The 50-year old, who was caught-up in a mini-scandal over the vacant manager's position at Leicester City back in January, leaves the club with immediate effect, although it is not yet clear whether his departure was a mutual agreement or an enforced one.

Despite having signed up six players for next season, Thordarson leaves the club abandoning the commitment of the final two years of his three-year contract here.

More on this news is expected from the club in the morning – developments that NCM will, of course, be keen to keep our loyal listener's bang up-to-date with.

Notts County MAD would, naturally, like to thank him for his efforts whilst with the club.
