Thor lauds defensive duo

Baudet and Wilson have played at the heart of the Magpies' defence in every match this season and are a key reason why Thordarson's team have conceded just 6 goals in their first eight league matches.

Both of the defenders were impressive performers in a struggling team last season, and they have managed to better their form even further so far this campaign, a point not gone un-noticed by Thordarson.

Baudet
"Julien and Kelvin have been magnificent at the back, no doubt about it," the Notts manager told the official website.

"Julien has been solid and a great captain, while Kelvin is still learning but he gets better and better every week. A really good partnership is developing there.

"It has been important that they remain focused for each and every game, and they have been so far. They work so hard and as a pair they are superb, winning the ball in the air and on the ground.

"They work as a pair and the communication is good."

Baudet, 25, was signed on a free transfer from Rotherham in the summer of 2004 by then-manager Gary Mills. Though initially brought in as a midfielder, the Frenchman impressed with his no-nonsense approach at the back and was made team captain by Thordarson prior to this season.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Wilson only became a professional footballer in the summer of '04, but has wowed the Magpies' crowd with his startling progress. The composed defender's performances have not gone un-noticed, with scouts from clubs including Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool sent to watch him.

N.B. All at NCM would like to wish Gudjon Thordarson a very happy 50th birthday today.
