Thor closing in on first signing

After releasing seven players yesterday, Thordarson has wasted little time in filling the voids left by the departures of O'Callaghan, Williams, White and Long, to name but few.

Gudjon: On the look out
Despite missing out on one unnamed target due to ‘relocation issues', Thordarson is now confident that he can lure his first new signing into the club just six days after the season's end.

'I've more or less agreed terms with one player now who I will be pleased if I can get him into my squad. I have just missed out on another one, but that was not related to money or anything or those sorts of issues,” said Thordarson, speaking to the club's official web-site earlier today.

"It was down to relocation for the player, and because of his family circumstances it was not right for him to move. There are all sorts of things players have to look into when moving clubs. Moving and relocating is part of that, but the player concerned was not ready to do that.

Whilst Gudjon admits he is keen to add to his squad this summer, he admits that he will not sign for the sake of signing, as the Icelandic boss insists that he will bide his time to get his man.

"It is easy to sign players. Right now I could probably have signed two or three midfielders and three or four strikers if that was the case. But, after you have signed them you aren't able to move them or change them so easily so you have to be cautious in your approach.

"I think it is better to be cautious and go into the market with a cool head. I will do that and keep a cool head on.

"There will be loads of options, so it is important now that we make sure that the players we bring in will improve our side big time. We have to be patient.”

Meanwhile, on the home-front, it has been revealed that schoolboy Stef Frost will not require an operation on a small, hairline fracture to the skull.

Frost, whose made three appearances from the bench for the club, underwent a CT scan this week where it was confirmed that no operation will be needed to heal the injury sustained during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Bury.
