Thompson signals Notts clearout

Notts County boss Steve Thompson looks set to revamp his Magpie squad over the summer.

He starts his programme by releasing six senior players.

Goodbye Tcham
The most notable departure sees striker Tcham N'Toya depart Meadow Lane.

The hit man enjoyed just one season in Notts colours, where he netted only twice in twenty-six appearances.

Some thought his crucial goal at Gigg Lane that ended a barren spell for the black and whites may have been enough to earn him a new deal, but it looks to have done little to impress Thommo.

Saul Deeney, Dan Martin, Alan White, Jake Sheridan and Dan Gleeson will also leave with Thompson refusing to renew their deals at the club.

Deeney has often proved himself to be an able deputy to first choice stopper Kevin Pilkington but it seems the Notts chief has other ideas.

Skipper White left Meadow Lane for Posh earlier this season and despite his five goal contribution from centre-back, he will not be returning to Notts.

As for the others, none of them really made a great impact and it is with all the best that we bid them farewell from County.

Gleeson is expected to stay on at Cambridge United while Martin and Sheridan will now go in search of football elsewhere.

Notts must also say goodbye to middle man Ian Ross, who returns to parent club Sheffield United. The Notts faithful have perhaps not seen the best of the midfielder as he has often been forced to play out of position on the wide right.

Charlton duo Myles Weston and James Walker go back to the Valley after an un-inspiring spell in Notts. Neither really had the chance to prove their value in their short runs in the side.

Thompson has also revealed that former Lincoln City Junior Mendes will return to Meadow Lane. But, Thommo has said that he is allowed to leave on a free transfer if there should be any interest in the player.
