Thommo out: Haven't we heard that somewhere before?
John Thompson will miss his first game as a full-time Notts County player because of a suspension that has been carried over from the postponed fixture with Aldershot Town.

In his absence, either Jay Smith or Adam Nowland can expect to deputise alongside holding-midfielder, Gavin Strachan.

Alterations are also expected at the back because of new arrivals and Michael Johnson's comeback from a one-match ban.

New loan signing Phil Picken is expected to slot into the right-back spot but one of Stephen Hunt, Michael Edwards or Jamie Clapham could find themselves warming the bench at the expense of the influential Johnson.

Another player returning from a suspension is Jamie Forrester, who has not featured since being brandished a straight red card in the dying moments of the frustrating defeat to Chester City on December 13.

It is highly possible that he could lead the line alongside Delroy Facey at the expense of Sean Canham. The former Team Bath hit-man has not found the net since the beginning of December.

Adam Tann has stepped up his comeback from a knee injury by returning to full training but will miss out alongside Richard Butcher (foot) and Russell Hoult (shoulder).

Update - Charlton Athletic youngster, Nathaniel Wedderburn has re-joined the squad for another month on loan. He is in contention for a starting place in the centre of midfield.
