Thompson: Let's end it

Last updated : 21 December 2005 By Rob Davies
Thompson has released a statement on behalf of the board to the club's official website in the hope of ending the debate over Pavis' proposed takeover bid.

A Fans Forum after the weekend's 2-0 win over Stockport had to be ended early after Pavis branded Thompson a liar, while arguments have continued, unbelievably, between the Supporters Trust and Supporters Club.

Pavis: Sparking debate
But Thompson - the Trust's representative on the board - is keen to put an end to all the talk that has vastly-overshadowed the team's victory at the weekend.

"Notts County football club is calling for the debate over a proposed takeover of the club involving Derek Pavis to stop," said the Club Chairman.

"The situation is in danger of destabilising the club, which cannot be allowed to happen.

"The club is coming to the end of its planned financial restructuring, and it needs to stay focused.

"We always said finances would be tight this season, but we need to get through this season and we would always welcome further investment.

"The board of directors are tired of the constant coverage of this. As far as the club is concerned, the matter is now closed and it is not in its interests to engage in further debate.

"We call on all fans and all those connected with the club to unite and get behind the manager and players."

The Supporters Trust have already complained of the behaviour of both Pavis and Club Director Roy Parker at the weekend, but have scheduled another Forum for January.
