Thompson appointed as Chairman

Thompson has been working as an unpaid director for the Magpies since the takeover of the club by the Blenheim consortium in January 2004.

Despite earning his place on the board through the Supporters Trust, Steve has become a valuable commodity in his own right, due to his expertise in law.

It is this expertise that led to the club saving thousands of pounds when former manager Gary Mills and his backroom staff were asked to move on earlier this season.

Thompson will now act as a Figure head for the board, though he will NOT be responsible for funding the club in the way Chairmen of other clubs are.

It is the first time Notts County has had a supporter as Chairman since the 1960s, which can only be great news for the club.

With a vastly experienced former England and Premiership manager in Howard Wilkinson alongside Thompson on the board, it's clear that the club is taking great strides forward off the field.

NCM would like to wish Steve all the best in his new role.
