Thommo: 'Spencer was first class'

Thompson was delighted with Weir-Daley's contribution and admitted he was Notts' biggest threat.

"We passed it and moved it well on the floor, and I thought Spencer Weir-Daley was a real thorn in their side," he said.

"On another day he might have had a few more...Spencer was first class," he added.

County fans will also be relieved that Thommo is concerned with the sides build-up of draws.

Thompson has been heavily criticised for over defensive displays, but Thommo too, knows we must win more games.

"We know we have drawn too many perhaps and we know we have to turn them into wins, but it is better than getting beat," explained the Magpies chief.

He also dished out a compliment to holding midfielder Matt Somner.

"In the midfield I thought we looked better with Matt Somner in there as a ball winner," he said.

He also hit back at fans who thought Notts were happy with a draw and took their foot off the gas after the break.

"We wern't settling for a point and we went to win it...I thought football-wise we put in a good performance," he replied to media comment.

Elsewhere, Wrexham goalkeeper Anthony Williams demands his side to show their worth in lifting them from the foot of the League Two table.

"People need to stand up and be counted and we need to show people we care and give it 100%," explained Williams.

Williams... War cry to Wrexham
After surrendering a goal lead to lose against 2-1 at Stockport at the weekend, the stopper is concerned that they may end up in the same boat as last season.

"It is not about what you do with the ball, it is about what we do without it and we need to be switched on for 90 minutes...We need to start winning games otherwise we'll end up with a situation like last season," he added.

The Welshmen are two points adrift of safety after the opening seven games and things look glum at the Racecourse Ground.

Williams believes results will come if the Dragons apply themselves in coming games: "We are trying to turn the corner and we have to go into Saturday's game full of confidence to have any chance."
