The great Torquay ticket debacle

Last updated : 11 April 2010 By Jacob Daniel

It would've been difficult to envisage this scenario around a year ago, but Notts are now left with a huge dilemma regarding how to allocate tickets for the club's final match of the season at Plainmoor, home of Torquay United. With an allocation of just 1,200 and with Notts having 4,000 season ticket holders alone, the simple maths shows that things just don't add up and there's going to be some disappointed people come Saturday evening when the tickets have sold out.

The initial arrangements seemed slightly bizarre, with only 500 tickets going on sale to season ticket holders on Friday and the rest going on sale, first to season ticket holders, the next morning. The logical solution would surely have been to simply start selling them on the Saturday morning to season ticket holders, rather than at a time when most people won't be able to get to Meadow Lane, but there we go.

Rather more concerning is t that those booked on the Supporters Club's official trip to the South Coast have had tickets 'set aside'.  This is a horrible error of judgement from those involved,he trip clearly stated that no match ticket was included or guaranteed and being booked on that trip is no different to the many fans who already have travel and accommodation sorted for the visit to Plainmoor but now have to sweat on whether they will be able to get a ticket for the match.

NCM will be in the queue at Meadow Lane next Saturday morning and we certainly hope that those who are travelling on the official trip will be doing the same to ensure their ticket for the match.
