Dudfield will not have his contract renewed.
Lawrie Dudfield was brought into Meadow Lane by former boss, Steve Thompson, alongside a myriad of ex-Boston United players in the summer of 2006.

In his time with the club, the tricky attacker developed quite a large fan base with his industrious performances that never appeared to drop below 100 percent.

Despite his efforts, it was his goal tally that let him down significantly, with just eleven goals in 81 appearances - a ratio that you would not associate with a striker frequently earning a starting position.

There is no doubt that Dudfield would be playing at a higher level, had he developed the ability to hit the back of the net on a regular basis, especially when considering his impressive technical ability.

Unfortunately, this is something that the ex-Leicester City man has struggled with for the majority of his professional career, with an average of just 0.15 goals a game overall.

His most fruitful period came between 2000 and 2001, beginning with his loan spell with Chesterfield, where he managed to strike three times in only four starts.

These performances impressed Hull City enough for them to splash out £250,000 for his services. The Tigers were somewhat re-paid by his 13 goals in 39 starts - one goal every three games.

Dudfield's highlight in the black and white of Notts County came against non-league outfit, Histon, where he bagged a fantastic brace, in what was arguably his finest performance for The Magpies.

Other high-points of his two season spell at the club were his last-gasp winner away at Torquay United and his late equaliser at Field Mill in a 2-2 draw with Mansfield Town last season.

this season made some fans feel that he warranted a new deal - however, Ian McParland begged to differ.

The front-man expressed his desire to stay in the Nottingham area subsequent to his release, meaning that a move to either Burton Albion or the newly-relegated Stags could be on the cards.
