Team News…vs. Boston United

Manager Ian Richardson is hopeful tonight of welcoming back defensive duo Mike Whitlow and Julien Baudet into the squad for tonight’s trip to York Street, after the pairing having been sorely missed during their absence.

The Magpies have suffered over 160 minutes of action now without either of the duo having put in an appearance after Baudet limped off after just 15 minutes of the 1-0 win against Swansea last week.

Whitlow: Set to return?
Whilst - with all due respect to the worthy deputy’s, Emmet Friars (19) and Kelvin Wilson (18) – the absence of County’s only fit senior centre-halves has been all too obvious.

Whitlow (pictured) has not featured since the 1-1 bore draw against Rushden and is currently suffering from a knee injury that has ruled him out for the best part of a month now.

Baudet, on the other hand, is continually dogged by his infamous calf problems, although has admitted that until training yesterday – where he felt a ‘tweak’ – the injury had been healing nicely. So much for that.

Neither player is guaranteed to feature this evening.

Stef Oakes, who hardly training throughout last week due to a thigh problem, looks far more likely to be named in the line-up. The former Leicester man who ‘played through the pain’ on Saturday is said to be recovering from a thigh strain although is fully expected to feature this evening.

Meanwhile, the much spoken of suspension of Saul Deeney will see the young Irishman see out the first of his three-match suspension.

On-loan teenager, Rob Elliot is expected to deputise, with rookie Karl Dryden – added to the squad yesterday – expected to be named amongst the substitutes.

The usual suspects continue to be ruled out, with Mike Edwards (knee), Gavin Gordon (jaw), Ian Richardson (knee) and a near-fit Steve Scoffham (broken leg) all restricted further to the sidelines.

From the Boston camp, manager Steve Evans has today added the services of seven-goal Cambridge striker, Jermaine Easter to the Boston ranks. The 23-year old is expected to feature tonight alongside former Chester striker, Daryl Clare.

A somewhat formidable front-line, I think you’ll agree…

Be sure to tune into NCM tomorrow for match reports as well as the usual backlash from this evening’s match.
