Team news vs. Southend United

Last updated : 17 September 2004 By Richard Brown

Gary Mills, once more, will throw together another improvised line-up for tomorrow’s clash with Southend United as injuries, and not forgetting generally shoddy performances, continue to bog the progression of the Magpies under Mills.

This week, fresh injury worries will make for difficult-listening when the team sheets are announced come Saturday afternoon with Gavin Gordon – injured during last weekend’s plucky 0-0 draw with Northampton – the next Notts victim. The, at times, little more than hapless front-man will be sitting out of tomorrow’s contest with ankle troubles.

Marvin: May be handed his home debut.
Another forecasted absentee for tomorrow is Julian Baudet, again, who injured himself at the Sixfields. A recurrence of a calf injury from the previous week will force him out – a major kick in the teeth for Mills, especially considering Baudet’s belting start to his Magpies career.

Chris Palmer and Stefan Oakes, who played his first piece of football of the season in the reserves on Wednesday, will both fail to feature tomorrow, despite both being on the return to training recently.

On the other hand, Kelvin Wilson [calf] and Ian Richardson [hip] will both return to the fray after recovering from their respective niggles.

Mills, however, does have options in attack with Matty Williams now fully recovered from his concussion injury.

The Notts manager may also hand on-loan West Ham striker Youssef Sofiane and Marvin Robinson, who he has said has impressed him a great deal, their home debuts.

NOTTS (probable): Henderson, Wilson, Edwards, Richardson, Ullathorne, Pipe, Bolland, Pead, Scully, Sofiane, Robinson.

Subs (from): Deeney, Whitlow, Gill, Williams, Hurst, Kuduzovic.
