Team news vs. Lincoln City

With a massive 2,500 Imps fans expected to make the short trip west, Meadow Lane will be graced with a bumper crowd today of around seven-or-so thousand. And, after their midweek win at Yeovil, a fair few ‘floating’ supporters may well be tempted back as the Magpies host Midlands rivals, Lincoln City.

Pipe: Wing Wizard
After David Pipe was away on international duty with Wales in midweek, it is expected that – regardless of the Magpies thrashing table-topping Yeovil 3-1 – the young Welshman will be drafted back into the line-up. For who, however, will remain a mystery.

Another figure set to return to the side today is veteran Mike Whitlow.

The 37-year old has recovered from a troublesome calf injury that has kept him out of action for the past fortnight. The well-travelled defender should, all being well, slot into defence alongside Frenchman Julien Baudet at the heart of the Magpies’ defence.

After Rob Elliot’s loan deal was extended earlier this week, manager Richardson will have the option once more of auditioning the rookie ‘keeper, currently on loan from Premiership Charlton Athletic. It is, however, expected that Saul Deeney will be selected over the teenager.

With the usual injury candidates of Mike Edwards (knee), Gavin Gordon (broken jaw) and, of course, player-manager Richardson (knee), the Magpies will once more see their already stretched squad laden with injury for the visit of high-flying Lincoln.

But we’ve just beaten Yeovil, remember?
