Team news vs. Cheltenham Town

Reports from the Nottingham Evening Post earlier this week to the outlook of the self-branded selection crisis, the situation for the Magpies, although with a squad still looking somewhat diminished, is looking more promising than what was first thought.

After the former Tamworth boss had conceded that his attempts to land an up-and-coming Premiership hopeful had floundered – on top of further injury and international woes – the former Tamworth boss had feared that he would be left with just eight members of his 24-man squad available for selection.

However, reports since the earlier revelations have sugared the pill somewhat, which the crisis had eased considerably with striker Gavin Gordon, for one, edging back into the selection picture. Gordon [pictured left], limped out of the home clash with Yeovil Town in the latter stages of last month, returned to training yesterday and is expected to undergo a pre-match fitness test prior to tomorrow’s fixture.

Julian Baudet, a key performer for the Magpies since completing his move to Meadow Lane, looks more doubtful, however, after he was removed from play at half time in the Bank Holiday defeat to Oxford. The man who replaced him, Mike Whitlow looks likely to return as he continues his steady return to full-fitness.

The weekends Internationals have claimed two victims, with David Pipe (Wales) and Wayne Henderson (Republic of Ireland) both having been called up. Stef Oakes [groin] and Chrissy Palmer [ankle] both remain sidelined, although, Mills fully expects the crocked midfield duo to make their return to full training within the fortnight.

Meanwhile, Mills, as reported by NCM earlier, has made the uncontracted addition of Bosnian-born, Fahrudin Kuduzovi to help stand-in for County’s paper-thin squad.
