Team news: Notts County v Shrewsbury Town

Last updated : 29 August 2008 By Dane Vincent

There may be some tired legs for the Magpies, following a run-out at the JJB Stadium on Tuesday, giving the visitors a slight advantage.

The return of some rested players may help County battle through this, in their attempt to finally secure the first three points of the season.

Out: Nowland will be missing with a hamstring injury...
Notts County were hit with the terrible news that midfielder, Adam Nowland is set for a six-week spell on the sidelines because of a hamstring injury picked up in last week's 1-1 draw with Luton Town.

Stephen Hunt (groin) is out until at least October, joined by Gavin Strachan (hamstring), who is hoping to make a much needed comeback early next month.

Skilful winger, Myles Weston could also miss tomorrow's game with muscle stiffness, but is expected to pull through in time for at least a place on the bench.

With Nowland's injury, Ian McParland will not be able to field the same side that started the first three league games.

Jay Smith and Neil Mackenzie will be battling it out for a starting spot alongside Richard Butcher in the centre of midfield.

Kevin Pilkington is likely to return in goal after being rested for the mid-week

Injured: Walker will miss tomorrow's game...
drubbing at Wigan Athletic. Russell Hoult is expected to return to the bench.

Shrewsbury Town will be without on-loan striker, Richard Walker for tomorrow's clash at Meadow Lane.

The former Bristol Rovers sharpshooter was withdrawn early into the Shrews' 1-0 over Aldershot last week.

Joining him on the injury table will be Paul Murray (Achilles), David Hunt (knee) and Graham Coughlan (hamstring).

Dave Hibbert - who incidentally scored in the Shrews 2-1 loss to Notts last season - will be looking to remain in the side after replacing Walker last Saturday.

Michael Symes could be selected instead, however, following his four goals in a mid-week friendly with Sheffield Wednesday.

Minimal changes are expected as Paul Simpson will be eager to maintain the momentum picked up so far by his team.
