He said: “The one thing I couldn’t question about the performance was the effort, the team went to the end and gave everything to try and get back into the game [against Crewe], but we came up very short on this occasion.
“We had good moments as we have done in a few matches since I came in, but most things haven’t gone our way. If we keep working hard, then our luck will change and the big moments in matches will start to go our way.
“However, if we keep conceding goals how we are then those moments won’t matter because we’re already on the back foot before we get into the game. The fans have been brilliant since I arrived, and I feel their frustration, we all do and we accept it.”
