Stone was sent home from training on Tuesday morning with a stomach bug, to stop it spreading to the already depleated Magpies squad.

The former Blackburn Rovers trainee recovered in time to take part in the reserve match against Hull at Meadow Lane today, and he lasted 45 minutes before being replaced by youth teamer Kelvin Wilson.

Stone has been in and out of the side in recent weeks after being a regular in the side early on, with his ability to play at right back and a centre half making him a key squad member after all the injuries Notts have had to cope with in recent weeks.

He was left out of the squad against Colchester after a mistake at Southport let the part timers back in the game, but he will continue to battle to regain his place in the side.
