Stallard's loan deal comes to a close

Fans' favourite Stallard returned to the club in February after falling out of favour at Barnsley - the club he left the Magpies to join back in January '04.

His return was extremely popular with supporters who still idolised the one they call 'Stall' after his original five-year spell at Meadow Lane.

The 'second coming' has been expectedly mixed though, with a number of classy displays perhaps overshadowed by the hitman only managing to net 3 times in 16 starts.

Though recently stating that he'd love to stay at the club - with his contract at Barnsley expiring next month - it now appears sure that Stallard has played his last game in a Notts County shirt, with the forward's wages - the reason he left Meadow Lane in the first place - a massive problem.

The 30-year-old has netted a total of 80 goals for Notts, with his last - a chip at Yeovil - probably his best moment since returning.

The forward will now undergo a summer of uncertainty, and he's not the only one.

The Magpies' players attended training for the last time today, though they admit they have no clue as to who will be their new boss when they return.

We at NCM would like to wish Stallard all the best in his future career.
