Stallard - At The Double
Despite some early pressure by the home side it was The Magpies who took the lead on 19 minutes when Stallard turned the ball over the line from close range after Ian Richardson's header fell to the front man.

Beforehand City had tested Steve Mildenhall when Mickey Bell, who was one of the best left boot's in the Division, let fly from 25 yards but Mildenhall was equal to the effort.

City were level on 32 minutes, after good play down the right hand side. Scott Murray, the dangerman, got away from young Paul Riley and delivered an inviting cross which former Notts player Peter Beadle touched home from close range.

Neither side created any real opportunities before the half time turnaround, with the scores deadlocked at 1-1.

City game at The Magpies early in the 2nd half, and Mildenhall was quickly called into action. He firstly denied Brian Tinnion with a good low effort and then pulled of a fantastic one handed save to deny Tom Doherty. Doherty's effort was flying into the top corner until the former Swindon keeper flew across his goal to make a superb stop.

Paul Riley In Action At Ashton Gate
The inevitable happened on 56 minutes, when The Robins took the lead in unfortunate circumstances. Scott Murray headed across goal and Magpies skipper Ian Richardson sliced the ball into his own net.

City were giving Notts a real pasting at this point, with Murray the main creator in all moves. The winger is without doubt the best in Division and gave young Paul Riley a torrid time. City went close on a number of occasions and were guilty of poor finishing while Mildenhall did make some good saves.

It was totally against the run of play when Stallard grabbed a leveller for Notts with 10 minutes to play, much to the dismay of the home fans after constant pressure. Stallard was played clean through and despite taking a poor touch he rifled to ball into the net much to the delight of the Notts following, who Stallard ran to celebrate with.

Mildenhall - In Good Form
Notts just could not hang on though, with sub Lee Peacock getting an 83 minute winner. Murray once more was involved, with his low cross being tapped home by former Mansfield striker Peacock after Nicky Fenton lost his footing.

The Magpies pushed forward late on with a number of crosses being put into the home side's penalty box, but City held on for a vital win while Notts remain 21st in Division 2.
