Stall: I want to stay

Since returning to Meadow Lane on loan almost three months ago, it has always seemed that Stallard was on borrowed time as far as a permanent move was concerned for the 30-year old striker.

With the club’s managerial situation still unclear, the feeling of uncertainty that clings all too ominously around the club of late has not lost itself on the Barnsley striker, who left for Yorkshire over a year ago now.

Stallard: Much loved
Out-of-contact at the end of the season, however, a move for Stallard would cost the Magpies nothing by way of transfer fees, but just that of Stallard’s wages – an issue that meant the end of his original Meadow Lane tenure.

However, until a new man is brought in at the top, negotiations could not possibly begin. Stallard, however, remains optimistic about the prospect.

"I would like to stay, but that is not really in my hands. You have to be made an offer before you can make that kind of decision" said the veteran striker, speaking to the Nottingham Evening Post today.

"There have been no discussions about it yet. The club have not said whether they would like me to stay."

"Obviously, there is a decision to be made about a new manager, which is going to have a big influence."

"But my future is up in the air and it would be nice to get something sorted."
