Stall: I owe the fans a lot

The goal unspectacular, but the feeling of relief that lifted the Meadow Lane crowd to its feet anything but. With the emphatic smashing home of Stallard that officially marked the return of a club hero.

Despite suffering from flu throughout the week, Stallard managed all but a few minutes of yesterday’s encounter after having been laid low throughout the week in order to turn out against the Swans.

Stallard: "I owe them a lot"
Stallard found the net for the first time since returning to the club little over a month ago, and his delight was obvious when speaking to the club’s Official web-site.

"I've had a bit of flu this week, but I am glad I played and I think there was no doubt I was going to play,"

"It was great to score, my first since coming back and in a way long over due. Even though I scored, it was important we won. We've kept this good run going now, five matches, and it is pleasing to see us climbing up the table."

"We did well, but like I said the most important thing was to win and keep the run going, which we did against top side in this league," he added.

However, the 30-year old striker – currently on loan from Barnsley – could not have thanked the Notts faithful enough for their adulation of him regardless of the shirt he sported.

"I ran over to celebrate with the fans because I owe them a lot. They have always been superb with me, and with the reception I got coming back with Barnsley, to be back playing in a Notts shirt and scoring was something I wanted to celebrate with them"

"Hopefully we can have a few more between now and the end of the season."
