Sorry, who!?

After Stef Oakes’ left-footed last gasp effort at the County Ground yesterday, Notts were today given the added incentive to win through the Second Round replay as the draw threw up a rosy little home draw in the form of UEFA Cup-cum-latelys, Middlesborough.

Oggy, Oggy, Oggy!
The Magpies came through yesterday’s Second Round clash on their travels to Swindon Town yesterday thanks to a 90th minute Stef Oakes equaliser and so scraped into the Third Round draw very much under the wire. However, the Magpies’ progress depends entirely on their ability to negotiate the sizeable obstacle that is League One, Swindon.

As it goes – should Notts reach the Third Round – the draw will have staged the ‘return leg’ of last season’s FA Cup round Three game, which saw the Magpies, travel to the Riverside. However, there Riverside adventure amounted to little as Ian Richardson – now, of course, in charge at the ‘Lane – slicing through his own net before Bolo Zenden showed characteristic flair and skill to loop home for a 2-0 ‘Boro win.

The Third Round match will, if Notts progress, be played in the weekend of the 8th and 9th of January, whilst the Second Round replay against Swindon will be played on Tuesday 14th December.

The latter of the above fixtures is subject to change and television appearances.
