"Smith has got to start"

"As with the Grimsby game, we looked a lot better when Jay Smith came on.

Jay Smith has impressed in his fleeting appearances so far
(Hector) Sam didn't do a great deal and (Myles) Weston was feeling his hamstring with ten minutes to go. Smith has got to start. When we play it up to Jason Lee he does get some good flicks on, but the others up front never seem to read them properly."

Raddy1862 is clearly a Jay Smith fan.

"On Sky yesterday they said that Notts' home record last season was the third worst in the league (only Torquay and Bury were poorer). So, put simply, it was only our away record that kept us up. In my opionion this is our biggest concern. If our away form dips - which I feel certain it will if we continue to play 4-3-3 - and our home form stays the same - which it looks like it might on the basis of the Brentford performance - we could have a long, hard season ahead of us."

Charlespalmer believes Notts fans shouldn't expect too much for this campaign.

"One thing I will say after reading comments on this board is that if you play 4-3-3 long ball to Lee, I think we'll pick you apart. I doubt launching it would be very effective versus (Steve) Foster, (Neil) Austin etc, and we have the width to potentially exploit your narrow looking team. You'll need to play 4-4-2 on the deck with pace to worry us I think."

Resident Darlington fan Quakerz adamant his team will win in Saturday's encounter.

"I'm not a great fan of Thommo, but let's leave calling for his head until after Christmas."

Ilovethepies thinks that fans wanting the sacking of Steve Thompson are being premature.

Meadow Lane subject to a takeover?
"We were all over Brentford in the second half, we completely dominated the play, but no one has mentioned that because it's a positive comment - you'd rather moan about how poor the set pieces were.... No one has mentioned how impressive Jay Smith was when he came on, just how poor (Andy) Parkinson & (Lawrie) Dudfield were. Remember, the season is a marathon and NOT a sprint."

Magpies_no1_fan vents his frustration at the NCM moaners.

"Personally I would be very fearful of Notts being the 'myfootballclub' club. This idea is doomed to failure, and I would not want our club run by a bunch of people who see it as a glorified version of Championship Manager, £30million investment or no £30million investment."

Garylundslaces in response to rumours Notts' possible investment may come from the myfootballclub.co.uk website.

"If the Supporters Trust are representing the supporters of Notts County, could they please tell me how many members they actually represent? Membership has dwindled I believe, since the club was saved. Sadly, now I feel they are only representing a very small minority. When was the last meeting? When is the next? When can all fans have a chance to discuss any possible bid/takeover/investment?"

Ian McParland - at the game on Saturday - is an ideal candidate for manager for some

Wonderland73 wants answers from the Supporters Trust, said to have rejected possible investment in the club.

"Keri Usherwood needs very urgently to tell us what the hell is going on."
Soccerman166 typically forthright in his view that Trust spokesman Usherwood should provide those answers.

"If there was a possibility that (Ian) McParland, Danny Wilson or someone of that calibre were interested in Notts then I would be very supportive of Mr Thompson's reintegration into the construction industry."
