Signed with a view to a permanent deal?

Seven goals: Forte knows where the back of the net is at this level.
Jonathan Forte today extended his loan deal with the club by a further month but could he see his Meadow Lane stay become a permanent one?

His time with the club will now last until the away clash with Morecambe on April 18, meaning that he will miss the last two games of the Magpies' campaign.

However, Notts' boss Ian McParland has once again spoke of his admiration for the player meaning that he may try to add the 22-year-old forward to his ranks in the summer.

Speaking to the club's official website he said: "Jonathan's pace is frightening and I'm convinced he has a big role to play in the games he is available to us.

"We put him on the bench on Saturday and although he was disappointed not to make the starting line-up his attitude was first class.

"There was no sulking from him and he was positive that when he did come on he would make an impact, which he did.

"That's the sort of thing I expect to see from my players and it's only a good thing for Notts County that he wants to stay on with us."

The seven-goal striker also expressed his delight at lengthening his stay for the third time.

"I'm happy to be staying on for another month and I want to add to those seven," he declared.

"If I could get up to double figures I would be delighted to say the least.

"I've made it clear in the past how highly I regard the staff here, so it was an easy decision to stay on."

Although Forte has another year remaining on his contract with Scunthorpe it may be possible for Notts to snap up the player.

This would become increasingly likely if the Iron were to attain promotion to the Championship.

The verdict on the site's messageboard appears to be split over whether County should strive to capture the player in the summer.

As a result NCM's latest census asks: Do you want the club to sign Jonathan Forte in the summer?
