Notts County manager Craig Short has made a decision on four of the five trialists who have been at the club over pre-season, with two of them being offered deals to join the club permanently. Defender Krystian Pearce, formerly of Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town, is said to be keen to join the club and has been made an offer to add a further defensive option to Short's squad, whilst Hungarian goalkeeper David Grof has also been offered a deal as the club's third choice custodian, possibly with a view to going out on loan.

However, two have also been allowed to leave the club, with French defender Mansour Assoumani moving on to a new trial period at Stockport County. Nigerian forward Jermiah Ani has also left and has been offered a trial at Championship side Crystal Palace. The final trialist, Kevin Smith, remains with the club and is expected to start up front for the Magpies this evening as they take on Stoke City at Meadow Lane in their first friendly on home soil.
