Shopping at Harrad's

Harrad has progressed through the ranks at Meadow Lane, since signing as a 15-year-old. And the now 20-year-old was finally able to break his scoring duck for the Magpies, with a brave back-post header during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Gay Meadow.

Ironically, the goal came when the young forward was actually playing out-of-position as a wide midfielder, due to the Magpies' vastly depleted squad.

The Nottingham-born player made his debut for Notts over two years ago, back in late 2002, but has endured a frustrating time since. Such was the lack of first-team oppurtunities, the pacey forward has spent time on-loan at non-league sides Gresley Rovers and Tamworth.

It was only in December's televised FA Cup tie against Swindon that he was handed his first start - almost two years after making his debut.

Despite excelling in that game, it wasn't long before Harrad found himself back on the sidelines. And, despite impressing with a sterling substitute performance against Rushden, it is where he has largely found himself since.

That is, ofcourse, until Saturday. And the joyful way in which Harrad celebrated the goal showed just how much it meant to the youngster, who is the only Notts County fan in the current First Team squad.

And with another season left on his first ever professional contract, Harrad will hope for more then the 4 First team starts he has been handed this season.

We certainly hope so.
