Derry, the former Notts County Boss, said: “I think he’s brought nothing but embarrassment on the football club both on and off the pitch.
“I think his decisions have been selfish. It’s all about him.
“I think his actions off the pitch have been a complete and utter embarrassment.
“I am a Notts County fan and I played my first game for them on my 10th birthday and left when I was 20.
“I went back to manage the club, had a great time there and enjoyed what is a brilliant football club in a fantastic city.
“To see them out of the league now is down to one man in my eyes. It’s down to Alan Hardy.
“They (the fans) don’t have any power.
“The power is in the hands of the ownership.
“You just hope as a Notts County fan there is a respectable new owner who is prepared to settle the ship.
“It’s just been quite a joke. It started off, for me, with the sacking of Kevin Nolan.
“Every manager deserves a chance to get through some rocky time.
“He had so many games left to get himself through that period.
“I think he got sacked after seven games or there or thereabouts.
“Out of all the sackings we have seen, some have been ridiculous.
“But that one was top of the tree.
“To go and lose a play-off semi-final against the eventual winners and then getting sacked after seven games? He deserves everything he gets, Alan Hardy.”
