Scully's Eventful Week

Last updated : 11 April 2004 By Joanna Walker

Yes, Tony Scully must be wondering where it all went wrong, after his wonder goal against Blackpool at Meadow Lane was featured on numerous football programmes, his goal finally won himself a highly fought after accolade, by winning a viewers vote for Goal Of The Week on Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday TV show.

The Former QPR Man Wins Goal Of The Week Vote on Gillette Soccer Saturday
He fought off tough competition from high flying Premiership sides such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea to win the vote with his electrifying run down the length of the pitch to the Kop end goal where he curled the ball into the back of the net, fooling a few defenders on his way.

But, yet just only a week later, he looks doubtful for the next home match at
Meadow Lane after being carried off on a stretcher yesterday at Colchester after a nasty and painful tackle from Colchester United midfielder Bobby Bowry.

Scully automatically knew it was a bad injury when he signalled he wanted to come off immediately. He appeared to be clutching his right ankle, but the severity of the injury is yet unknown

Gary Mills told the Club’s Official Website today; “We are going to have to see how Tony is today, and he is a doubt for tomorrow's game with
Sheffield Wednesday, which is a big blow to us.

Whenever Tony gets the ball he always looks lively and you expect something to happen, so it is a blow to lose him.”

So, unfortunately it doesn’t look like there will be any wonder goals on Easter Monday for Tony Scully now.

We, at NCM wish Tony Scully a speedy recovery and look forward to him returning on the left wing in the near future.
