After only a week ago when manager Gary Mills warned Scully to improve his performance after his performance at Bournemouth or he would be leaving the club, the 27 year old sealed victory for the Magpies on Saturday with an 82nd minute strike.
And after seeing his heroic strike at goal secure Notts the vital 3 match points, he now wants to stay at Notts and see the club secure their Division Two status, which he believes will happen.
“My goal is to try to prove myself so I can get a longer deal at the club. The manager has given me a chance to prove myself and I want to take that.” Scully told the Nottingham Evening Post.
“The manager asked me to go on there and win the match for him. That was what was in the forefront of my mind.” And he did just that, with his solo 20 yard blast after coming on as a substitute.
Scully believes the win on Saturday was a big one and well deserved. Despite not having been at the club long he believes he has seen enough to be confident that the club is capable of escaping relegation.
“Everyone is convinced we can do it and if we can keep getting results like Saturday's it won't be a problem.”

Scully concluded; “We have another very big game coming up tomorrow but we will be confident.
“We have two home games coming up and we have to see them as an opportunity to pull ourselves clear of the relegation zone.”
