Scout's report: Morecambe

Last updated : 05 December 2008 By Dane Vincent

Regular: Roche has played in all of Morecambe's league games so far.
Team breakdown: Between the sticks - Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper, Barry Roche has been an ever-present for the Shrimps this season, after signing in the summer from Chesterfield. The 6ft 4in stopper has already conceded 27 goals in the league so far, but will expect to keep his place ahead of 21-year old, Lewis Edge.

At the back - Captain, Jim Bentley had to watch from the stands as his teammates crashed out of the FA Cup in a 3-2 loss to Cheltenham Town. He is now back in contention and could return to the heart of the defence at the expense of either Henry McStay or Adam Yates. Ex-Mansfield Town man, David Artell is expected to keep his place at centre-back.

In the middle - Pulling the strings in the centre of midfield will be Stuart Drummond. The home-grown ball player also has the potential to grab a goal from time to time, with four to his name already. Fraser McLachan, Danny Adams and Craig Stanley will also expect to start.

Up front - Rene Howe appears to be the one to watch in the visitors' attack, having netted on seven occasions this term in all competitions, including three in his last four games. Besides the on-loan Peterborough United man, Morecambe's front-line have struggled to hit the target. Gary Hunter, Matthew Blinkhorn and Ryan McCann, have all failed to score so far. Wayne Curtis, who has one goal to his name, is a doubt through injury.

Form guide: The Shrimps head to Meadow Lane unbeaten in five league outings. Their away form is not too hot, as they have notched up just the one victory on the road, against Chester City last month. Despite this run - which

Danger man: Howe has seven goals to his name this campaign.
has seen them record two wins and three draws - they sit one spot below the Magpies in 18th.

Past matches: There have only been two meetings between the two sides, with both ending in 1-1 draws. This fixture last season saw a late Richard Butcher strike cancel out an opener from Michael Twiss.

NCM verdict: Morecambe appear to struggle away from home but have shown some fight in previous weeks. Notts, on the other hand, have been out of sorts as of late and have lost five of their last six in League Two. A similar league position and lack of firepower indicate that another draw could be on the cards.

Prediction: Notts County 0-0 Morecambe
