After a massive 297 days after breaking his leg on the final day of the 2003/04, it now seems that Steve Scoffham is finally eyeing up a return to match action, with the German-born striker have been pencilled in for a return in County’s home game against Grimsby Town

But since that fateful day 51 weeks ago, Scoffham – as well as sustaining a fall at home that only aggravated the injury further, breaking the bone had fixed from his initial injuries – has undergone a painfully slow recovery program, concluding yesterday morning.

He was today given the all clear to resume full training with the Magpies’ squad, and began his return yesterday.

Speaking to the Club’s Official site, club physiotherapist John Haselden said "Steve took part in his first full training session yesterday since the injury, and things went well,"

"He won't play for the reserves tomorrow at Huddersfield, but he is hopefully going to play next week, with a week and a bits worth of training under his belt."

"We won't rush him, and we'll see how he goes,"

The former tradesmen could be make his first team return against the side he netted his first goal for the club against. He netted the third goal in a 3-1 victory over the Mariners, with fellow strikers Paul Heffernan and Mickael Antoine Curier (MAC) also netting for County.

How things have changed since that day.
