Scoffham becomes a Brewer

Following the release of ten players from the senior squad, it has been Steve Scoffham – a former builder – who has been quickest off-the-mark in finding himself a new club, with the 22-year old yesterday agreeing to team up with Conference side Burton Albion.

Scoffham: Back in business
Burton – who list former Notts striker Shaun Harrad amongst their current crop of players – have agreed to run the rule over the ex-tradesmen, inviting Scoffham to join their pre-season training plans ahead of next season.

Scoffham's Magpies career was restricted to just twenty-seven league starts, with his two-and-a-half seasons with the club having been ravaged by injury, spending long stints on the sidelines with two broken legs and a broken cheekbone.

Scoffham – the last player for the Magpies to fork-out a transfer fee for back in February 2004 – managed just seven goals during his time here prior to his release last week.

The Derbyshire outfit are expected to make an assessment of the player in their first pre-season fixture against Championship outfit Birmingham City, whilst it is also likely the player could feature against the Magpies second-string in their Bass Charity Vase clash in late July.

NCM would, naturally, like to wish Scoffham well with his new club.
