The 21-year old today agreed a new deal with the Magpies, with Gudjon Thordarson looking to give the striker a chance to prove his fitness once and for all before a decision is finally made upon his long-term future.

The former tradesmen has been unlucky with injury throughout his Magpies career, with his 2004/05 campaign cut short due to a broken leg picked up on the final day of the 2003/04 campaign against Oldham, and thus made just three starts over the campaign gone by.

Scoffham makes a rare public appearance
Scoffham signed for £10,000 from local side Gedling Town in February 2004, joining the club with a lethal strike-rate in the non-league scene.

Since signing, the striker has scored twice prior to his injury – both in his first season with the club.

Scoffham joins Andy White in signing a one-year contract with the club today, with both strikers expecting to be displayed eight days from now against Gillingham at The ‘Lane.
