Ruben out to prove doubters wrong

The 18-year-old Australian has made a scintillating start to his Notts County career, with a string of eye-catching displays in the midfield since signing for The Magpies just under a month ago.

The youngster signed from QPR after a succesful trial to become Ian Richardson's first permanent signing as manager, and has shocked Meadow Lane fans by how quickly he has adapted to the rigours of first-team football.

Starting in four of his five appearences - after netting an excellent debut goal at Chester City - Zadkovich has impressed with a range of passing skills in the midfield, as well as his willingness to shoot.

But the midfield maestro insists his motivation is the doubters back in his homeland who thought he would never make it.

"I just want to prove people wrong," Zadkovich told the NEP.

"I tried to make it back home in Australia and too many people told me I wasn't up to it. I didn't agree with them, I believed that I was good enough.

"That is why I came here, I wanted to prove people wrong.

"Now I am playing in the first team at Notts the hard work has been worth it."

As well as scoring on his debut, Zadkovich also set-up Glynn Hurst's header at Yeovil whilst winning the sponsors' man of the match for the recent 1-0 home win over Lincoln City.

He will, no doubt, be hoping to continue his good start for the club in Saturday's home tie against Grimsby Town.
