The young Australian was absent from the 1-1 draw at Gay Meadow after being called up for international duties with his native Australia.

Zadkovich, 18, only joined County a month ago following his release from the Queens Park Rangers youth system. Ruben – a surprising favourite amongst the Magpies faithful – made an instant impression from the bench, netting a late consolation for the Magpies eleven minutes after his introduction to the side.

And the versatile youngster stayed true to form turning out for the Australia under-20 outfit over the weekend, as he helped secure a 4-0 rout over against A-League side, Newcastle Jets.

In a friendly arranged ahead of June’s FIFA World Youth Championship, the young midfielder nodded a header onto the inside of the post after five minutes, before doubling his tally on the hour mark with a tidy looking finishing, looking very much the part for his native Australia.

Ruben will be in action once more in mid-week when the under-20 side take on Sydney FC, and will thus miss out this weekend as the Magpies play host to Bury on Saturday.
