The young midfielder was dismissed following an altercation in the second-string’s Base Charity Vase match against local rivals, Nottingham Forest.

The incident came just minutes from time, when the young Australian, who spent much of his pre-season away on international duty, was adjudged to have raised his arms to Forest’s Alan Rogers.

Zadkovich – an under-20 international – has starred for the Magpies during the club’s Base Charity Vase defence, with the sending-off slightly marring two commendable performances against Gresley Rovers and Forest.

Speaking to Magpies Online earlier today , Ruben said "It was a bit of a mix up really. Someone started swinging punches at me and I was sent off for raising my arms in defending myself."

"I am a bit disappointed and a little bit angry actually."

The former QPR man is, as a result of his dismissal, suspended for the opening three games of the new season against Torquay (away – Saturday 6th), Wrexham (home – Tuesday 9th) and Lincoln (home – 13th).
