Ross Watch 3

In his program notes on Saturday, Notts boss Steve Thompson confirmed that he was desperate for the midfielder to return and extend his six month loan spell until the end of the season. Thompson said, “I discovered in a roundabout way that Sheffield United (Ross' current club) had informed Ian Ross that he would be playing for their reserves at Wigan.”

Ross... Back in Sheffield colours
This meant the possibility of Ross rejoining Notts appeared unlikely, “It seems that there's a good chance we will not be able to extend his loan.”

After two appearances for United's reserves so far, just eight days since his return to Brammall Lane, Ross seems to be in Neil Warnock's plans. This has been backed up by Warnock himself who told the Sheffield United Official Site, “Rossy has come back a different player - a better player - especially off the ball which wasn't one of his strengths before he went to Notts County.”

It is clear Warnock is looking to include Ross in his plans, “If there's a chance they can challenge the squad, then they'll (Kevan Hurst included) stay with us.”

There is a shining light for Notts though with Warnock conceding he may yet return out on loan, “If Kevan and Ian are not even going to make the bench with us this season then I'll probably let them go out again.”
