Notts County have today confirmed the signing of striker Luke Rodgers, who joined the club on their recent pre-season trip to Austria. Former Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale man Rodgers struck 4 goals in 2 games as Notts were narrowly beaten by Universitatea Craiova and defeated SV Austria Salzburg, and Ian McParland was suitable impressed enough by Rodgers that he has given the 27 year-old a two-year deal at Meadow Lane.

Rodgers burst onto the scene when his pace, power and goalscoring abilities impressed many at Shrewsbury Town, before he moved to Crewe Alexandra. He then moved to Port Vale where he had a good goalscoring record but fell out with the Vale Park management who let him join Yeovil Town on a free transfer, where he was restricted mainly to sub appearances. Rodgers was offered the chance of a trial at Meadow Lane and has grasped it with both hands, and becomes Notts' first striker signing of the summer, with more expected in the near future.

Rodgers is expected to be in action for the Magpies tonight as they travel to Arnold Town for a pre-season friendly.
