Right wing up for grabs

Chance to shine: Fairclough may get the opportunity to prove himself again.
Matthew Hamshaw's three week lay-off has opened the door for fresh competition on the right wing.

Ben Fairclough did his hopes of a return to the starting line-up no harm by netting in the midweek friendly with local rivals Nottingham Forest.

Other options include Myles Weston, Richard Butcher and Jamie Forrester, who have all operated in the position during their time with the club.

Russell Hoult remains sidelined with his long-standing shoulder problem and the team looks set to remain largely unchanged from the one that lost 2-0 last weekend.

Bradford City suffered a bitter blow after receiving the terrible news that flying winger Omar Daley has been ruled out until Christmas with a knee injury.

Peter Thorne, who has hit the target six times in the last three meetings between the teams, is expected to start despite not scoring since November 1.

Speaking to the Bradford Telegraph and Argus he expressed his desire to get back into the goal-scoring groove.

He said: "I could have come away with a couple of goals but that's the way the luck's been going for me. I've had it so many times in my career.

"I couldn't miss at the start of the season and perhaps it's evening itself out a bit now.

"Normally these sort of runs end with the ball going in off your backside and then you're up and running again.

"I've scored a few goals against Notts County but I don't look at it that way. You just keep plugging away and it will happen.

"We haven't been scoring enough as a team but you look around the side and I still think there are plenty of goals in us."
