In developments today the club announced in an Official statement that – regardless of the much-improved fortunes of a side previously managed by Gary Mills – that the club will not be looking to renew the contract of Richardson on a managerial basis.

With a host of names already linked with the to-be vacant current manager’s post, including Brian Talbot, Colin Lee and even former Mansfield man Keith Curle, it seems that the club will not be short of applicants for the job come May time.
Whilst the much speculation has also been suggesting that the club could – although, in truth, probably won’t – appoint from within, with current non-executive director and ex-Notts boss Howard Wilkinson also mentioned.
An official club statement, released late this afternoon, read: "The board believes that the club now needs an experienced manager, with good contacts at all levels of the game, who is well qualified as a coach and Notts County as his mission."
"Consequently, we are announcing today that we will not be offering Ian Richardson a managerial contract for next season, but will be looking to appoint an experienced manager to take the club forward."
However, if reports from the Nottingham Evening Post are anything to go by then the Magpies could already have groomed their replacement already, with Paul Hart having been seen around the club of late. Although with little factual evidence in the NEP, all such rumours should be taken with just a pinch of salt.
The statement thus concluded: "Notts County will now commence a search for a manager in accordance with the attributes noted above. We hope to identify suitable candidates and make an appointment within the next month so that the new manager can plan for next season as soon as possible."
