Richo: We were the better team

After Richard Barker’s 21st minute header breached the County goalkeepers judgement, Ian Richardson has come out to commend his side following the loss, which saw the Magpies slip to 20th in League Two.

Saturday’s loss, at home to local rivals Mansfield Town, marks the third defeat on the spin for Ian Richardson’s side, this following the a run of four straight clean sheets for the Magpies.

"A massive disappointment" - Richo
Speaking after the club’s second defeat to Mansfield this season, Richardson told the club’s Official site: “It was a massive disappointment to lose the game, but I did feel we were the better side in all honesty

If we had been clinical in front of goal we would have had something from the game, but we didn't get in the right positions and the bounce and all that didn't really go our way which was a bit of a knock.”

We had a few half-chances in the first half with Pipey flashing a shot wide, Gavin Gordon heading wide and Gill having his effort saved,” added Richardson.

However, in the second-half we did nothing really, and I don't think we tested the goalkeeper. We pumped plenty of balls into the box but they defender well and when the ball fell free in the box we did nothing about it,”

We played quite well and didn't get what we deserved from the match. If we play like that we will be winning soon. I don't think we need to be seriously worrying yet, I believe we have the side to dig us out of this hole very quickly
