Richo set for testimonial

Richardson spent almost 10 years at Meadow Lane, winning many admirers for his whole-hearted approach before being released in August due to a long-standing knee problem.

The defender also risked his own reputation last season by agreeing to manage the club after the departure of Gary Mills and, after steering the club clear of relegation trouble, the testimonial will be the perfect chance for the Magpies' fans to re-pay 'Richo' for the tremendous service he gave the club after joining from Birmingham City in January 1996.

Richardson - who has now retired from the game and is working in the Football in the Community department at Meadow Lane - was clearly pleased after hearing the confirmation that a testimonial will be taking place.

"I am delighted that I have been granted testimonial status by Notts County and it will give me the chance to play one final match at Meadow Lane," said the 35-year-old.

"It will also give me an oppurtunity to thank all the Notts County fans who have supported me so well during the past 10 years.

"I hope they will come and see what should be an enjoyable and entertaining match!"

Crowd-favourite Richardson made a total of 297 appearences for the Magpies and also proved helpful and willing in the club's fight against administration a couple of years ago.
