Richo: No calls for Kelvin…yet

With Bolton, Arsenal, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Everton all having assigned talent scouts to keep tabs on the Magpies’ 'jewel in the crown' of their recent surge of developing youngsters, Ian Richardson – whilst admitting that there is still time to lose the Strelley-born youngster before the transfer deadline tomorrow – stated that he has yet to receive an approach for the Magpies youngster.

Wilson in full flow
The 19-year old Wilson, currently in his first full season as a Magpies player, has been under much scrutiny from multiple Premiership clubs of late, let alone Championship sides Crewe Alexandra and former Magpies boss Neil Warnock’s Sheffield United, after turning out a number of impressive performance in a floundering Magpies side.

The transfer deadline for Football League clubs falls at 5pm tomorrow. However, with the international transfer window closed to teams within the Premiership, it would seem obvious that, if an approach were made, that it would be from a manager within the Football League.

However, with less than twenty-four hours until the deadline passes, manager Ian Richardson has hung a one million-pound price tag around the neck of his prized asset.

"There has been a lot of interest in terms of clubs coming to watch him, but we have not had any calls in the past few weeks" Richardson told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"We have not had any inquiries about any other players either."

However, whilst the Magpies will be looking for as rewarding a deal as possible to cushion the blow of losing one of their prized youngsters, it may well transpire that Notts are fobbed off with a deal padded-out with fees for appearances and international call-ups, potentially – if such clauses never become active – reducing the value of a potential transfer.

In conditions similar to the fast sales of twenty-goal striker Paul Heffernan and teenage protégés Dave McGoldrick and Leon Best, the Magpies may well be left somewhat out-of-pocket in selling their youngsters. ‘Raped’ out of players, as so eloquently described by Southampton fans upon snatching Leon Best from the Magpies grasp nearly two years ago.

"Everyone knows how highly we rate Kelvin. He has what it takes to go a long way in the game."

"We want to hang on to him (Wilson) for as long as possible but if we receive a significant offer, it might be in the best interests of the club to consider it
."

Richardson, effectively placing Wilson in the shop window ahead of the deadline, has already made the signing of Ruben Zadkovich prior to tomorrow’s deadline, with the young Australian signing last week for the Magpies. However, the Magpies’ manager has again expressed his interest in bringing in added personnel to bolster a squad riddled with injury.

Speaking to the club’s Official site "There is a possible chance we could bring someone in, but I am waiting to see how that comes out. I was waiting to speak to a Manager yesterday, but I'll be on the blower today that's for sure."

"I've taken a look at a few players, but we'll have to see if there is a chance,"
