However, after the Notts board handed Richardson the reigns at least until the end of the season yesterday, it has now freed up the possibility for Richardson to make a fresh approach for the Town midfielder.
But Robinson (pictured right) - a lifelong Magpies fan - was keen to play down the speculation and insists that there has been no fresh contact with the new County boss, believing that the move is now unlikely to happen until his contract expires in the summer- if at all.
"I was told that if he got the job he would try to sign me but he also said there wasn't much money, so I presume it would not be until the end of the season if it happened now," Robinson, 29, told The Western Daily Press.
"These things happen in football with rumours, but for every one that does come off, there are two that don't.
"County are my hometown club and it did interest me and it did unsettle me a bit.
"But as far as I am concerned I am a Swindon Town player and now I have to get on with that. I have to knuckle down here."
