All this - coupled, ofcourse, with the club's woeful on-the-field form at the moment - leaves the 35-year-old's chances of landing the job beyond this summer looking extremely slim.
But Richardson insists he was right to say what he did - even having a subtle dig at his players in the process.
"I do not feel that I have always had the backing of the board," the angry manager told the NEP.
"I'll tell it like it is - I felt we needed to add to the squad before the deadline and I think I was proved right by what we saw on Saturday.
"Maybe I have damaged my prospects of hanging on to the job next season. I don't know. But I said what I said because I am honest.
"But that has gone now, so we will get on with it."
Richardson took over the manager's post from Gary Mills back in early November, after a string of bad performances.
Despite never coaching at any capacity before, the veteran did enough in his first two months in a caretaker role to be handed the job until the end of the season.
In recent weeks though, The Magpies' form has plunged - with Richo's men being on the wrong end of four succesive defeats, which has seen his side sucked back into the relegation dogfight.
The popular defender - who has spent 9 years as a player at Meadow Lane - has divided the club's support with his criticism of the board.
