Richo frustrated again…

Player/Manager Ian Richardson – who lists only ‘keepers Wayne Henderson and Rob Elliot as well as striker Mark Stallard – all on loan deals – as his managerial coups, has been widely said to have been in talks to bring in a central defender and winger to the club, after recent injuries have meant the squad looking somewhat threadbare of late.

However, in his latest quest, Richardson has failed again in his hunt for signings.

The man in question is former Notts winger, Peter Kennedy.

The now 31-year old, a former team-mate of Richardson’s in his earlier days with the club, has been out of favour at Peterborough United – Notts County’s official means of off-loading players, having made only 15 league appearances for the Posh.

Although it now seems very much as though the Northern Ireland international, who made 23 appearances during his time here at the ‘Lane, will be staying put, after Richardson was frustrated once again in the transfer market.

"I went to see him play in Peterborough reserves, and I think he could do a job for us down the left." Richardson told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"He is an experienced figure, he plays the position well, he knows when to cover when somebody is out of position and when to push forward."

"But he is not in the first team picture at Peterborough."

"Most people know that he is a very good friend of mine and I don't think it is wise to go down that road. But I don't want to be accused of signing up my mates."

Kennedy [pictured above-right] was allowed to leave the club in 1997 for a mere £100,000 under former boss, Sam Allardyce. Since then – as well as commanding transfer fees of in excess of £400,000 – the left winger has gone on to play for Wigan, Watford and Derby all at higher levels.
