Richo features for Posh

Richardson is currently on-trial at London Road after being told by Gudjon Thordarson last Wednesday that he would not be handed a fresh contract by the club he served for nine years.

And the tough-tackling defender impressed in a 90 minute work-out for the Posh second-string, as he bids to earn a contract for the Magpies' League Two rivals.

He has also attracted interest from a number of other League Two clubs and been offered a contract by local Nationwide Conference outfit Burton Albion since his release last week.

The 34-year-old is still believed to be discussing legal action against the Magpies after being livid upon his release from the club.

The long-serving player was promised a new contract if he were to prove his fitness, though Thordarson believed that - despite featuring in two full reserve matches - the player had not met the fitness level required, after nine months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

'Richo' has been offered a testimonial by the club, but has given no word yet as to whether he will accept this offer. As well as serving the club as a player since 1996, the Londoner managed the club for seven months of the last campaign, steering the Magpies clear of relegation trouble.

All at NCM continue to wish him well.
